Why MP3 players WITHOUT Built-in Batteries are better than MP3 players w/ Built-in Rechargeable Batteries

September 4th, 2006 by barda

First, built-in rechargeable Li-ion batteries of high quality are relatively expensive that is why most low-priced mp3 players are either AA or AAA battery-powered. If you want MP3 players w/ built-in rechargeable Li-ion batteries then you ought to buy Apple iPod, Creative, iRiver and other branded MP3 players so you can be sure that the batteries would last.

Why branded? Because finding a replacement battery for a built-in rechargeable MP3 battery is really difficult if not impossible which is the second reason why MP3’s without built-in batteries are better. Besides, you can easily find a disposable AA or AAA battery at any hardware store once the battery quit working. Better yet, you can just replace it with rechargeable AA or AAA batteries which you can find at Handyman or at most hardware stores.

MP3 players are relatively new in the Philippine electronic gadgets market so you won’t find repair shops just anywhere. If you buy an MP3 player from an MP3 Shop or you buy a branded MP3 player like iPod, if the rechargeable built-in battery stops working, I’m pretty sure you’ll have warranty and repair services available.

Google

Let me share my experience. I bought a cheap MP3/MP4 player/Flash disk w/ rechargeable built-in Li-ion battery. It’s cheap because it was made in China. I was happy with its versatility and performance at first then after a few months the battery stopped working. In my great need to have it fixed, I went to MP3 shops at the mall and asked if they can replace the battery. Unfortunately, they told me that they only offer repair services to MP3 players bought at their shop. I also tried Welcom and they also couldn’t replace my MP3/MP4 player battery. My MP3 player came from Cebu. If I want to have it fixed, I need to ship the player to the shop at Cebu and still pay them to have the player shipped back to me. So I had no choice but to put my MP3 player in storage.

So to those thinking of buying MP3 players, CHOOSE WELL.

Blogging again

April 24th, 2005 by barda

Picture_19I put considerable thought and time on my blogs. Somehow, it takes a
while to organize my myriad thoughts. But then again this has always
been a problem to me - expressing my thoughts.

It’s sweet and nice that I found someone who can complete my
sentences, someone I can talk continuously for hours, someone who gets
the drift even with incessant stammering and understands before I could
even understand myself.

But in some way, I still miss being unattached. I miss inwardly
laughing at cheesy couples. I miss my solitude. Dang, my antisocial
mode’s been reactivated.

I guess I just need a vacation.
